No. Duradek is installed by a network of fully trained applicators. They are trained in waterproofing techniques and building codes to ensure you are getting the best quality installation available. For this reason, we are able to offer the industry’s best warranty.
It is best to clean your Duradek surface at least four times a year to maintain its appearance. Using hot water with a mild soap, scrub it with a soft bristle brush. For more difficult stains, you can dilute some household cleaner. Be sure to not let any chemicals sit on the vinyl surface and to rinse well with fresh water.
Yes. Rock salt, kitty litter, and other snow-melting chemicals can be used on your Duradek surface. We do caution, however, that you clean the surface thoroughly with soap and water, and flush clear prior to letting the heat of the spring sun ‘bake’ any chemical into the surface.
Yes, the S.T.A.R. system is one of the easiest aluminum railings to install. The sleeves are pre-welded for convenience, and the pickets and punch-outs on the rail components are manufactured to be exact. We provide you with all necessary stainless steel fasteners (and caps) so your installation can go smoothly. If the railing is being installed into Duradek, we will provide you with a tube of NP-1, a one-part urethane caulking for the fasteners (yes, it’s compatible with Duradek).
