Duradek
DURADEK IS THE ORIGINAL SHEET-VINYL WATERPROOFING FOR DECKS AND BALCONIES
Duradek is the stress-free, maintenance-free surface that gives you more time to enjoy the things you love. It requires little more than occasional spray with the garden hose—no scraping, painting, or staining needed. In the rare case of damage, it’s easy to repair, because there are no layers—Duradek is the final roof surface.
Low-Maintenance
Duradek can be installed on a new or existing wooden deck, creating a waterproof seal so your deck won’t peel, chip or crack, even in extreme temperatures.
- Eight times more elastic than other roof membranes
- Permanent waterproof protection
- Industry-leading 10-Year Warranty
- CCMC 09643–R approved
Waterproof Membrane
When used on a second-storey walkout, Duradek also acts as a roof-deck, keeping the space below it dry. Your patio, garden tool storage, or outdoor toys are protected from the elements. Wood, unfortunately, can leave splinters in bare feet, Duradek is safer, especially for children at play. It’s free of harmful chemicals, and fire-resistant and skid-resistant too, making it safe and durable.

LEAKING WATER:
Duradek membrane acts as a totally waterproof shield to prevent moisture from entering the space beneath the deck surface.
ROT & DETERIORATING LUMBER:
By preventing both the sun and the moisture from getting to the lumber, it will last indefinitely. Costly structural repairs will be eliminated.
SPALLING CONCRETE, RUSTED RE-BAR:
By protecting concrete surfaces with a vinyl membrane, you can prevent the surface damage caused by the freeze/thaw cycle. Expensive structural repairs to rusted reinforcing metals inside cracked concrete can be prevented.
EXPANSION/CONTRACTION OF METAL FLASHINGS:
Duradek is flexible and elastic. This allows the product to shrink and expand from our hot summers to the fridged winters.
PEELING, BLISTERING SURFACES:
Moisture in the sub-surface can cause blisters in the coating system unless it can escape. The sheet vinyl system breathes, thus eliminating any pressure build-up due to moisture (vapor) under the membrane.
SAFETY:
The textured surfaces will increase the slip resistance as well as prevent injuries due to slivers or raised nail heads.
CLEANLINESS/BACTERIA RESISTANCE:
The surface can be quickly & easily cleaned and will discourage algae or other bacteria growth.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:
Snow removal chemicals, swimming pool chemicals and acid rain, have little effect on the surfaces as long as they are regularly cleaned with Duradek approved solutions.
COMPLETION TIME/REPEAT JOB SITE:
Unlike the liquid systems which often need 2-3 days to complete and tie up a job site, Duradek sheet vinyl system can be completed in one step (one day) and used immediately.
CLIMATE CONDITIONS FOR OPTIMUM INSTALLATIONS:
Duradek must be installed in above freezing temperatures, and remain above freezing for 24hrs for the latex glue to cure.
COVERING EXISTING COATINGS:
Duradek can cover older exiting Duradek. Existing coatings that are not Duradek will be removed, if the existing plywood is not in good condition, it too will be removed and replaced with new ¾” tongue and groove plywood.
WEIGHT / MAINTENANCE OF MECHANICAL PROTECTION:
This membrane is designed for pedestrian traffic and does not need to be protected by cedar boards or concrete pavers.
YES, DURADEK VINYL IS GREEN!
Aside from having No Deck or Roof (which uses NO products, consumes NO energy, and creates NO landfill waste or need to recycle), Duradek is your GREEN choice for Outdoor Waterproof Decking and Roofing.
COMPARE PVC TO THE ALTERNATIVES
When compared to products that perform the SAME function, consider the following:
PVC’s one-step application and longevity compare favorably to the multiple application and reapplication requirements of liquid-applied systems, saving many trips to the job, which in turn consumes less energy. There is a huge weight savings benefiting the structural requirements and the energy consumption to transport as compared to an EPDM membrane with concrete pavers. When compared to pressure treated wood, there are no chemicals leaching into the environment and likely double the life expectancy.
As a waterproof roof or deck, compared to alternatives, DURADEK IS THE GREENER CHOICE!

DURADEK’S ‘CRADLE TO GRAVE’ STORY
Years ago, being ‘Green’ meant a product was made of recycled materials or could be recycled. Now we understand that the entire ‘Cradle to Grave’ needs to be evaluated. Click here for Duradek’s ‘Cradle to Grave’ story.

THINK GREEN – THINK SUSTAINABLE – THINK AHEAD… THINK REMOVABLE TRIM BOARDS!
One of the main considerations for the sustainability of a walk-able roof deck membrane system is how easy it will be replaced in the future. Ease of replacement means there is less materials waste and energy consumed when it comes time to repair or replace a decking system. By Installing a removable trim board at the initial installation you do not have to disturb existing wall finishes.
Warranty
Duradek guarantees to repair or replace any portion of the Duradek “Ultra” 60-mil vinyl decking membrane which leaks as a result of a manufacturing defect within ten years from the date of its installation.
