Privacy, pergola, pool party paradise
This client had an existing cedar deck was in need of some serious TLC. Their old deck served them well for many years, but it was time to upgrade. They met with us with high expectations and stringent demands. The new layout should be similar to the last, but with a modern, maintenance free flair.
Our plan included a custom kitchen including outdoor kitchen cabinets and BBQ, a privacy fence along one entire side, custom bar with pergola overlooking the pool, and split stairs for aesthetic appeal. All these features would be built with industry-leading Wolf PVC decking and powder coated aluminum to ensure lasting performance for many years of winter and summer fluctuations. The plan was approved and we were ready to break ground on this ultimate privacy, pergola, pool party paradise.

CUSTOM WOLF PVC DECKING CABINETS
We’d planned to build cabinets from Wolf PVC decking for outdoor use. We knew this tough product would stand up to the heavy rain in summer and the cold during winter. But our client had another request—no miters on the cabinets. Our ingenuity kicked into high gear: we scored the back side of the Wolf PVC boards, heated them to make them flexible, and bent each board on-site to form the exact angles required. Pretty advanced stuff!
Something needs to be said about our pergola design
Keeping cool during a hot Winnipeg summer is a must! Part of the project was building a cozy area to have drinks and food in shady comfort. We eventually landed on a free-standing pergola design with solar mesh on the top structure and a fully retractable drop down sun shade on west side to protect against the evening driving sun. Using knee braces, we were able to provide adequate support for the roof to avoid the having a deal breaking post in the middle of the seating area. We foresee many good times for our customer, overlooking their beautiful pool!
Privacy fence with prowess
Our custom privacy fence make elegant use of In-lite outdoor lighting. Installation of strip lighting under the top cap showcases our craftsmanship of the deck and privacy fence at any hour of the day.
Plenty of pool storage
Finally, this backyard paradise is complete with a seamless combination of bench storage and stair made with Wolf PVC decking. The bench hatch door blends flawlessly with the rest of the deck, and is strengthened with hidden aluminum framework. The discreet storage doesn’t detract from the space but offers plenty of flexibility and allows the customer to keep things tidy!
